This is part of a longer movie called The Joy of Stats from the BBC. Hans Rosling is a Swedish medical doctor and speaker. He’s presented several times at the TED conference. He is director of the Gapminder Foundation which developed the Trendalyzer software system which visually represents information. From the Gapminder site:

Instead of studying history for one year at the university, you can watch this video for less than five minutes. Income per person (GDP per capita) is adjusted for inflation and for differences in costs of living (purchasing power) across countries.

  • The graphic is superb, but what amazes me more is the big screen effect
