2017 Revisited

It’s Father’s Day and I want to share with you a film my Dad made. This film was shot in 1967 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the American Association of Advertising Agencies. It speculates about the future of advertising from a perspective of looking back at 2017 from the year 2095. The man speaking is my father, James C. Nelson, Jr., who was creative director of Hoefer, Dieterich & Brown, at that time the largest independent ad agency west of the Mississippi. He wrote, directed and produced the film as well as performed in it.

My father, who turns 90 this year, just had his first novel published by Putnam titled, On the Volcano. The book is historical fiction about a young girl growing up in the West and available at Amazon in hardback and for the Kindle. He’s blogged about it as well. On the Volcano is a great read, I’m proud to say.

Needless to say, he has always been and continues to be an inspiration to me. I admire his endlessly creative mind,  his relentless energy and drive, his great sense of humor and warm, warm heart.

Dad, you’re a great role model and the best friend a son could ever have. I love you.
